Upcoming local elections will be held on Saturday May 14, 2022. Voting rights of foreign nationals residing in Iceland have been significantly expanded. Nordic citizens gain the right to vote when registering to live in a municipality. Other foreign citizens acquire the right to vote after three years of continuous residence in Iceland, provided that other conditions for the right to vote are met.
We encourage everyone with the right to vote in Iceland to use this right.
