Children's dental care

Dental treatment provided to children and adolescents under the age of 18 is free of charge except for an annual appointment charge of 2.500 kr. at the beginning of each 12-month period. The condition for Icelandic Health Insurance's payment contribution is registration of a family dentist. Parents are responsible for making a dentist appointment.

Dentists can also complete the registration upon arrival to an appointment. Parents/guardians are encouraged to make an appointment for the first dental exam when the child is two years old.
